Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to have a Section 8 Voucher?
A: No. We gladly accept Section 8 Vouchers but they are not required to rent a home.
Q: Do you “Go by Income?”
A: No. Opportunity Homes is not public housing but our rental rates are set by the federal government. And only people whose income is below a certain amount may rent our homes. But the rent you pay is standardized and is not according to your income unless you have a Section 8 Voucher.
Q: What utilities do I pay?
A: Tenants are responsible for electric, phone, cable and water.
Q: What appliances come with the home?
A: All apartments include washers, dryers, disposals, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
Q: How do you choose your tenants?
A: Prospective Tenants are qualified to make sure that they meet our consumer credit and criminal background check selection criteria. Opportunity Homes does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, familial status, or sexual orientation.
